2007 fuel milage
I have a 2007 reg cab 5 speed short box 4x4 with 3.73 gears. I bought it new. It only gets about 17 mpg local and 20 on the highway. It is completely stock. Is there any way to put manual lock outs on this truck and are there any way to get better fuel mileage out of it?

I'd say you're getting pretty good mileage for that setup!
The 4.0 isn't exactly known for it's fuel economy.

that's consistent with what you should be getting. MAYBE, on the low side but definitely on the spectrum. I have a supercab auto with 4.10's and get 15/19 mpg.
Only thing to get better gas mileage would be a tuneup, and accelerating at a slower pace.

...probably will never see that kinda mpg out of that truck. 4 banger 5 speed 2wd in tip top shape? Yeah sure. Not a 4x4 4.0 though.

Identical MPG mine gets, although an automatic and 4.10's. Can get 20-21 on the highway with cruise set to 60. Mostly 2-4 lane highways, I rarely drive it on the interstate. When I do, with cruise set to 65/70, typically 20 MPG there.

Re: 2007 fuel milage
So It sounds like I'm not alone here. Does anybody make a manual lockout kit for it? Also does anbody make a selectable overdrive similar to gearworks? Im thinking if I dont have to spin the front axle all the time and can run 1000 less rpm it would help alot

the difference in mpg is negligible. It would take years to make up for the cost of converting. You may gain a few tenths but that's it

You have a 4.0. V6 power V8 mileage

Re: 2007 fuel milage
My last truck albeit it was 20 years older was a 15 mpg difference between locked in and unlocked.
