Default Help... Thermoatat going out??

I just put in a new radiator and thermostat in my 2000 ranger about 2 months ago. Kept having check engine light come on with a cylinder 6 misfire after I just put brand new plugs and wires in. Put fuel injection cleaner in the tank yesterday and now my truck is running hot, but not overheating. It's always half way on the gage, but not it's about 3/4 and fluctuates from normal temp to hotter... Is it my thermostat?? Any input is greatly appreciated

Change your radiator cap.

Yup. The cap isn't holding pressure correctly and causes temperature fluctuations. Happens when you get a aftermarket radiator but still using the OEM radiator cap.

K, I'm losing water somewhere. Had to add about a gallon of water to the radiator.

Oh no. Did you see any leaks? Check all your hoses and around the water pump. Also check all over the radiator. Did you have a odd color looking coolant?

Sorry to bring back a dead thread but did you ever find the problem? My check gage light has been going in and out on me recently and yesterday from when I started the engine but it never stays on. I know I have a small leak in the heaters core valve. Which I've always had a problem with and replaced about 5 times.
