Replaced cam synch on OHV. Now idles ROUGH
Hey all,
So my truck got the cam sync squeak about two weeks ago and I just had time to replace it today. I took the upper intake off so I could see the darn thing (thanks for that design Ford), got the old one out after setting to TDC (by putting the alignment tool on the old one before unbolting it), lubed up the new one, and put it in the block. I had to use a Dorman cam synchronizer and sensor because I simply couldn't afford a Motorcraft one (I'm a broke graduate student). Please don't say "it's because you used a Dorman!".
Truck ran perfect before the replacement, now it idles like absolute, total garbage. The whole truck shakes around 800 rpm, will jump up to 3000 rpm if I tap the gas and sounds fine and normal. If I just let the truck sit at idle, it revs it up to 3000 on it's own. At idle, it sounds like there is a turbo spooling up or it's sucking air somewhere (heard with windows down in the cab). But I checked again and have all connectors and hoses hooked up.
What did I screw up or miss?
