About 3 months after I had installed the bodylift on my truck, I started getting the P0442 code (very small evap leak). I used my scanner, and would erase the code. after 3-4 days, it would come back on at random times. I let this go on cause it really never bothered me.

Well, the other day I was filling up the tank, and I always top it off, and when I did, I noticed some gas on the ground. I looked under the fender, and the little vent line that connects to the filler neck was full of gas, and the extension hose I installed when I lifted the truck was leaking gas.

Normally I would assume that this leak spot is what was causing the evap leak code to go off, but I don't think gas should even be in this vent line in the first place.


Any idea of why I have gas in my vent line when I fill up??

How much do you top it off? Imo I would start with that leak.

Usually I top it off at around half a gallon after it clicks off.

Same thing happened to me. It turned out to be a leak in the fuel neck. It pretty easy to change. No need to remove the bed. I pretty common with Rangers.

Stop filling when it clicks off. The vent tube has gas in it because you are over filling the tank.

X2 on fixing the leak in the fill tube.

My problem with the fill tube is that I can't find the replacement. Everywhere I go just has the metal filler neck, not the actual rubber hose. And all the stores that have spare hose, it doesn't have the elbow where the hose connects to the tank.

What did you all do?

99% of the time you have to buy the whole filler neck. Can't just get bits and pieces

When i went to autozone as well as o'rielly, they pulled up the picture and it was just the metal piece. Unless the picture is wrong, I don't think I really need this part. and the last thing I want to do is buy from Ford.

you may not have a choice. and i do know for a fact the only way to get the vent line from ford is buy the whole neck.

you may be able to get some regular vapor hose and make your own if you dont want to go as far as buying a new neck BUT a lot of those filler neck pieces arent serviced separately
