96 Ranger, manual, 4.0l, 4x4 Extended Cab.
I recently took the transmission off to replace the slave cylinder. In the process I also replaced the throwout bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate and clutch. After getting everything back together it shifts great and runs just fine accept for one thing.
There is a light metal on metal scraping noise I cannot figure out coming from the clutch/trans.
The only time this noise is NOT present is when the vehicle is at a stop (or VERY close to) and I have the clutch pedal down.
As I understand it, noises like this are usually the cause of bearings and its normally 1 of 3 things. Pilot, Throwout, or Input Shaft.
Since the noise STOPS completely when not moving with the clutch pedal pushed down. Im leaning toward the input shaft bearing
Can anyone who knows more about transmissions help confirm this?
