Verify that there is no obstruction in the airflow through the A/C condenser and the radiator. Flush very thoroughly with water if need be.

PO apparently had a problem and thought that inserting the wrong thermostat would cure it. Predictably, that move was wrong. Remove the incorrect part for the application and install the correct Motorcraft t-stat (for reliable results, accept no other brand). BTW, engine also get's best mileage running at the temperature it was designed to run at.
You could and ideally should verify what the real engine temp is when it is running by using the torque app, an Ultra Gauge or the like, or an IR thermometer. The point is, prove that it's actually overheating by determining what the actual coolant temp is. Those dash gauges are generally relative and their performance is not much to get excited about.
Edit: I've had debris build up between the radiator and the A/C condenser and to remove it, the radiator needed to be removed or maybe, if lucky, you could loosen it at the top and push it back, vacuum in there, etc. You can't see this crud until you gain acess to that area between the two, but it can nicely obstruct airflow and cause it to run warm/hot.
