Default Victor Reinz lower intake manifold gasket

Replacing head gaskets, I find the set provided by Reinz has a two part gasket set for the lower intake manifold to heads/block. I took off a one-part gasket--which is also pictured on the box. So the heads are provided for, but the flat part--a bit of the block--is not. What gives? Anyone with any experience here?

Cheers,
Richard

Default Re: Victor Reinz lower intake manifold gasket

The answer to this is that Reinz has replaced the one-piece "valley pan" with two intake manifold gaskets and a tube of silicone for sealing the gap at the top of the block.
I declined to go this route on the principle that silicone sealant is bad news if a chunk gets loose and lodges elsewhere. But I find even the gasket I took off left silicone residue in places.
Is this silicone business an accepted application here?
