It had been running fine I've been using it almost daily. Went to back out of the driveway and it just stopped. Cranks over just fine.

60+ pounds pressure on the fuel rails.
Ran a spark tester and had it (only checked one)
Reset computer , disconnect battery.
No engine codes from sct and another cheap reader.
My gf thinks it's battery, but it's on a high end harbor freight charger and turns over fine.

I did recently replace the gem due to a 4 wd not engaging, it was running after that( did not fix orig problem) I put it back.

Spray a little starting fluid into the intake and see if it tries to run. If it does then your fuel injectors are not opening and firing if not then you need to do a compression test.

Thanks guys, I did check a couple more for spark, they had it. Fed it some starter fluid, no joy. Tried the autozone borrowed compression tester on one cylinder, no pressure. I expect the others to be the same. It has 135000 on it. Guessing the cam chain broken? No funny noises before it stalled, or while cranking. Still bugs me no engine codes.

I'm gonna go either camshaft problem or piston rings

On my son's truck -2003 4.0l, we had a faulty fuel pump.

But before we figured the pump out we tried starting it on carb cleaner spray, brake cleaner spray, and a couple of other sprays and it would not run---not even 1 extra spark bump. Reassembled all of the air hoses and the fuel pump started working just as a friend with tools showed up and it fired up perfectly. That motor will not run if any air hoses are disconnected and even when connected it still may not run on alternate fuels


Don't give up on the engine yet and the autozone compression tester could be broken or you could be using it wrong.

Your fuel pump is working now, but was it just before you stared putting alternate fuels into the intake?
Does it "SOUND" like normal cranking noise?
Do you hear the injectors clicking?
Do the spark plugs look wet? Do they Smell like fuel? Wet plugs do not spark and do not run an engine. Maybe the gap is extra large from old age, I've had some old plugs stop working at 1/16" gap and 100K miles
