I have a 99 Ranger That i had an accident with and the truck runs and moves great but the cab is pretty bad on the Drivers side. The 99 ranger has a 4.0 in it and i had purchased a 2001 ranger which is in great condition and also has 4.0L but has a blown engine that through the timing chain. my first question is my 99 ranger does not have an egr system but the 2001 does and if i do the swap how would i go about correcting this. My second question is the 2001 is fully loaded and has cruise control but if i have to change computers will i still have the cruise capability since my 99 dosnt have it? last question is my 99 has a rebuilt transmission and transfer case are they compatible with the 2001?

I dont know what all else you will run into on that swap, but let me tell you where i am with mine...

99 ranger, found a 00 for a good price. Today i started the swap. The motor i got did not have exhaust manifolds, however, the are completely different from a 99 to a 00, the heads are also much different. The cam position sensor on my 99 is a 2 wire on the back of the motor, while the 00 does not even seem to have one there. So i am thinking thats just the beginning of the issues, oh yea, motor mounts are also a "tad" different and the 99 wont bolt up.

For starters...

I couldnt do the swap i am now looking for another engine. The engine in my 99 is a 4.0 cam in block and my 2001 4.0 is a sohc so i cant legally do the swap with ny and there emission standards. But i think i can save the engine in the 2001 i took the top end apart and found ont the rear timing chain is not broke but is very loose so i believe it is a tensioner and if it is i can hope there is not much of a valve collision and save the engine.
