it sound like your issue.......a lot of people find it easier to remove the bed to change the pump, also if you live in a snowbelt and your leafsrping shackles are original i bet they need to be replaced it is easier with the bed off. let me know if you are taking the bed off. I have some info I can copy and paste.

Got a topper and liner. Bed ain't coming off. Swapped out the pump. Had a time with the high pressure fitting on the tank. Didn't want to cooperate. Finally got it. There was a ding in the coupling shell. Believe it or not I fixed it with a "church key" that just fit under the lip and pushed the ding out from the inside. Worked for two more hours trying to get the hangers back in. Got one and called it a night. Back at it tomorrow.

I had the same cracked hose and code on my truck, they first told me it was the intake manifold gasket. Turns out that rubber hose got cracked and that was it!

Got the tank back in after finding that a small rock fell from above the heat shield and got between the tank & body. Reset the CEL and headed off for a test. Made it 100 miles before CEL came on again. Power was better and feul econmy seemed improved but wasn't sure until I returned home and topped off the tank again. Was unsure if the perceived mileage improvment wasn't a result of the new sender. Mileage increased from 17mpg to 22.2mpg. New code for CEL is P0401 which is an EGR issue so it seems that the fuel lean issues are solved. I will tackel the EGR tomorrow. Thanks to all for the valuable inputs posted here.

Seems that now I have a bad DPFE. Will change that out and see where it gets me. Though it seems that I'm having a really bad time with this truck I need to point out that for 213330 miles it has been a champ. Had 1 problem @ about 140k miles when I blew a head gasket and I recently replaced the A/C compressor but other than that I have had virtually no problems with this truck. I don't think the issues I am having now are unreasonable, frustrating though they may be.

213K miles:

1 Head Gasket
1 A/C Compressor
1 Fuel Pump
1 Idle Control Motor
1 Set of Shocks
Replaced front end bushings & ball joints + regular stuff like oil changes & air/fuel filters

All-in-all I give this truck 2 thumbs up.

Swapped out DPFE (1 minute job) and finally no CEL! Next job is to replace clutch & clutch hydraulics...

Thanks again for the helpful guidance offered here. You guys are great.

20 east of Pensacola. Look for track map of Hurricane Ivan and where that track makes landfall... that's Navarre!

I don't think that I've done that much for 213k miles. Other vehicles I've owned were never-ending mechanical nightmares. This one has some issues now but I expect things to start failing at this point. Even the paint is still good but there is a line of rust starting above and just behind the drivers door in the roof seem just over the small rear side window.
