Question Engine Tick And Reverse Lights

Hey Guys, Im Trying to figure out my new ranger (and the forum) so bear with me.

I recently purchased a 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4 4L V6 Manual Transmission. I love this truck, however a few things have really been annoying me....

I have noticed a sort of tick sound when i accelerate, that is not present when i rev the engine in neutral. It is most noticeable if i take off from a stop in second gear, however it is present in all gears at all speeds... The sound is constant with engine speed. I have tried putting in better grade of fuel, however the sound is still there.

Secondly, the reverse lights only seem to want to work occasionally, typically when they are not needed (day time) but often they wont turn on. Is there a relay or some switch that i can test to see if that is the problem

Thanks

The tick could be intake runner flaps or in the case of my truck the soundproofing under my truck has fallen and rubs on the the drive shaft

----------

Also check for loose ujoints on the driveshaft

As far as the reverse lights I'm pretty sure it's the switch on the side of the transmission, I'll let you guys know.

Kk yea I figured exhaust rattle it's just strange because it doesn't rattle when I'm in neutral only when it's under load. I'll see if it still does after I put on the cat back system any suggestions for what system? I'm thinking borla to reduce drone at cruising speeds ,

Lol I just unbolted mine and put it in the attic then put a pipe on the back of the cat to move the noise out of the cab lol

----------

Im probs gonna get a purple hornies glass pack later on before inspection lol they are only $25

----------

My bed rattles now though I just put a sliding back window and I can hear the tailgate at low rpms

----------

Just choose a higher shift points and the noise will go away

Just an update for anyone ever having the same problem with reverse lights not always turning on, it was the back up light reverse switch located on the drivers side of the transmission.
