Default Camshaft syncronizer

I need some help here.I have a 2000 ranger 4.0.Iswapped engines and now my wiring wont fit the camshaft sensor. The engine came out of an explorer.I need to buy another camshaft syncronizer and sensor.I was reading about the alignment putting it in but never seen anything about taking the intake off.Can this drop in like the old distributors or do I have to take the intake off to get it in.Thanx

Here's the guide I looked at to locate mine, it has some pretty good info in it which may help you.
