4.0 Pull and replace without EGR?
So I blew my motor up in my 97 ranger (my fault!) anyways went and bought a 4.0 out of a 2000, it has no EGR and mine had the EGR, I would rather not have it. Can I just drop this new motor in my truck? or is my computer going to throw codes and will the truck not start/Run? Can I just change the computer? I do NOT want people's guesses or thoughts, I do that enough myself! Please anyone who has dealt with this advise

Sorry the answer is no. You would need to get the harness and computer out of the other truck to make it non egr. If you have a state inspection then you can not do that even.

Ok, what about swapping the EGR stuff onto my new motor, I do believe I've seen other posts about that...

That will work but you'll get a little better fuel mileage if you take the no egr route.

Re: 4.0 Pull and replace without EGR?
I don't have access to the truck this came out of, I really don't know how involved it'd be to run another harness, probly not real difficult, but I do have my old motor, i'm just gonna swap everything over and cross my fingers, probly make a video so others can reference
