94 ranger 4.0 hesitates when I start driving then fixes itself.
Just bought the truck 94 ranger 4.0 starts fine when I go to drive it ,feels like there is no power then all the sudden it kicks in like it's running normal , happens on and off while driving and using a lot of fuel . I'm going to clean the map sensor this weekend but any other suggestions. I've read that the ect would cause a lot of fuel to be burned any suggestions would help thanks!

I'm having the same problem, mostly after driving a little and coming to a stop at a light. The truck will jerk forward in place and almost seem like it wants to die but then gain power and this happens quite rapidly. Once I hit the gas all is well again. I'm also burning a lot of fuel. 200-250km to a tank. I've seen close to 500km to a tank in this truck previously.

4.0 don't have a map sensor. Only the 2.3 do. Do you mean maf? And yes clean it and the iac.

2000 ranger 4.0 , it sounds like you need a New fuel pump if you have to turn your key on more than once to get it to start.

mine would kind of do the same thing. It would sputter and hesitate on a heavy acceleration. Changed spark plugs, ran better. Spark plus wires, but I sprayed mine with a mister bottle at night when it was running and seen little arcs. So I changed them. New distributer ran better. Gas filter helped out a whole lot. And then it still had a little sputter, so we ran 1 can of sea foam in half a tank of gas, and the exhaust stunk and ran a hell of a lot better. Try some sea foam in your gas. It can't hurt anything unless you just leave it sitting.

Today i changed my spark plugs and i saw that the insulator on one was broken and the whole plug was bent. Could that make it run funny?
