Thermostat Housing
Does anyone know if the thermostat housing on the 2004 4.0 has screw in or clip in style sensors?

Re: Thermostat Housing
Okay, when I pull the old housing to reuse the sensors, how do they they come out? I see a nut, do they simply unscrew out?
I know there is a metal clip, do I pull that out and then do I unscrew the old sensors or do they pull out?
Reason I am replacing the housing is because it is leaking on mine.

Re: Thermostat Housing
No, no unscrewing, there is nothing there that is threaded. There is a clip securing each sender to the t-stat housing; you remove it with a needle nose pliers. To facilitate ease of reassembly, I suggest installing them in the same position as they were removed. You can see where the clip engages through the t-state housing under the senders, it's the slits. In fact, in the pic you can see the end of the clip under the right sender on the t-stat housing.

Re: Thermostat Housing
Ok so simply pull that clip and they should pop out? I currently replaced timing chain tensioners and pulled all of this out and now the housing is leaking because some of the tabs on the bottom of the housing were broken.

Re: Thermostat Housing
It's probably not those tabs causing the leak, it's more likely to be the old housing and it's dribbling where the two sections are bonded together. If it's leaking in the back it's hard to see short of using a pressure tester, mirror and a good bright light.

Yea it is leaking somewhere in the back. I can see fluid build up and I know when i pulled it off before it was missing some tabs and probably isn't sitting on the seal perfectly straight causing a leak.
