Default Replaced EGR valve and still get code P0401?

I just replaced the EGR valve and the check engine light came back on. Is my next step the DPFE sensor? Truck seems to run fine but not thrilled that the light stays on. If I clear the code it will come back after 20 miles or so. Lmk what you think.

Replacing the DPFE sensor will most likely solve your problem. If you had a Ford scan tool or equivalent you could check the data for that sensor while the car is running and I think it is supposed to be around 4.5V. More than likely it is reading closer to 1V. These sensors get water/moisture in them and fail. I have replaced many on Mustangs with the V6. It is very simple to replace. Remove yours and tap the hose inlet and outlet ports of the sensor on your hand to see if any water comes out of the sensor. Good luck!

check your wires on the dpfe sensor if damaged or broken repair as needed the voltage of the center wire should fluctuate in the 1 volt range if you are reading 5 volts more than likely it is your wires good luck i just got mine fixed its not fun you can take and wiggle the wires and kinda pull a lil bit on them if it breaks you found your problem that is how i found mine.

Next to your trans dipstick and right under those two large camlock block connectors.

How do you stop the sensor from getting water or condensation in it. I have replaced mine 4 times now.

In the electrical connector? If that's what you mean use dielectric grease inside the connection.

No the actual sensor. The one that has the chip inside. Mine keeps getting wet for some reason, i think it's condensation because the 2 rubber tubes seem to be fine and blew out the 2 lines to see if there was any blockage.
