Default Need help with quick disconnects on fuel filter.

I posted back in the beginning of November 2013 about needing help removing the fuel filter on my 2000 Ranger but I need to ask for help again. Two of the lines have the white U shaped plastic clips that I removed from the filter, now the 3rd line has the green push clip in the line. I can not get the removal tool to work so I used side cutters & cut the piece of the filter off at the body of the filter & then crimped the end that I cut with vice grips so I have something to grab on to pull the piece out of the line when I depress the green quick connect clip. I sprayed the line with wd-40, carb cleaner & tried to spin the piece of the fuel filter still in the fuel line & it seems very tight. I also tried to push in on the piece of the fuel filter as I push on the green clip doesn't help. I tried to use a pick to push up on the green clip but the filter piece refuses to come out of the line. When I was at the JY a while ago they had a 2001 Ranger that I pulled one of the 2 lines that run from the fuel pump to the fuel filter. One of the lines on my truck says caution fuel, & the one I got does not. Does anyone know what the second line from the fuel pump to the fuel filter is for & can I use it in place of the fuel line I can not get the piece of the fuel filter out of?. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to describe my problem with enough info so maybe someone can help me out. TIA.

I can push in on the clip & looking at it from the end of the pice of the filter that is stuck in the line it looks like it releases but the piece will not come out, it is even hard to turn it in the line.
