Default Pcm location 2010 4.0

Just an FYI!

It took me a bit to find out this info so I though I'd pass it on for those who are interested.

On a 2010 Ranger 4.0 the PCM is located in the engine compartment.
You will see 3 wire bundles on the firewall (pass side), remove the two 11mm nuts on either side, and the 11mm nut holding the wiring harness. The wire bundles are plugged into a steel plate. Pull the plate towards the front of the vehicle. Now you will have the computer in your hands. The sticker is on the backside.

Seems like a lame location as it is exposed to all the weather and will constantly be getting wet.

But you will need this info for programming an aftermarket programmer.

I read this move was made for temperature control reasons. More out in the open.

It's in the same place on a 2003 and it doesn't get wet.

Thanks guys. I was looking around in the engine compartment. Is the vent solenoid near by the Vapor Canister? Thanks again.

We have all sorts of issues in this thread...

First off this thread was created in 2010 about the PCM & now someone is asking about an unrelated charcoal canister .

Adding to the confusion is the fact that people aren't 'quoting' WTF they are answering about.

Member 'Houdini59' - You should make a new thread about your questions since this one is asking about the PCM and is over 4 years old.
