Exclamation 99 ranger w a 3.0 found a 4.0 from explorer

the explorer is a 2000, and has approx 50000 miles on it. I consulted an acquaintace prior to removing the 4.o. He advised that all would be well, including wiring harness. My bell housing pattern doesnt match up, can i switch the housing and get this tranny to work??? I would greatly appreciate any input about the transmission, motor mounts...wiring harness......... I think ive done myself in...........
