Default '03 4L v6 Stutter No Start

Over the last year or so my truck has had an intermittent problem where it doesn't start. (Acted up this time last year and stopped until couple weeks ago). Turns over fine but won't catch.

Was only having the problem after driving it, shutting it off for <10min and trying to start it. Wait a while and it would start fine. Mechanics haven't been able to find a problem. Sometimes it would catch, stutter and shut off after a few seconds.

Driving it today and the motor bogged down a couple times, 3rd time I tried to pull over, power steering didn't work. Truck stuttered really bad and shut off. Lights and power windows/locks worked fine. Started, stuttered and shut off again. Tried a few more times and the truck would turn on but not start at all. Check engine, check gauge, and battery lights were on.

Called for a tow and tried a couple more times while waiting an hour for the truck with no luck. Put the truck on the flatbed and dropped it at the shop, started right up when we had taken it down.

Revved it up in park and wouldn't go able 3500rpm, and some oil smell. Didn't seem to lose power again taking it around the block.

I love my truck and don't want to get rid of it, but I can't afford to try many things to get it fixed and might have no choice. Any ideas?

Initial reaction:

*flakey ECM or fuel pump relay
*Fuel pump
*Fuel pump has a wiring issue

In park and neutral, there is a rev limiter. Stops abuse and keeps warranty costs down on new vehicles. This is why you engine speed in park responded as it did.

***I owned a car and have drove others that left the factory new with no power steering, no power brakes and a manual tranny. I'm still alive.
