hey guys im new to this forum. i own a 2003 ford ranger edge with a 3.0 v6, the truck is rusted out but the engine only has about 100k on her, the tranny is bad in the 3.0 shes knocks hard when it shifts gears. i am planning on buying a 4.0 but it has over 200k on her my question is can i take my 3.0 and drop it in to the 4.0 or is the tranny and everything else different? thanks
----------
also my ranger is a 2003 edge 2dr, and the 4.0 is a 2002 xlt
i just read on another forum that you can switch the bellhousing from the 3.0 onto the 4.0 tranny? have you ever herd of this or do you see it being possible
That depends on if you have an auto or 5speed manual, ranger automatics I beleave have removable bellhousings but the manuals don't. Imo if the 4.0 runs fine leave it in.
