Default Fuel Filter ?

Picked up a new fuel filter today. They gave me the wrong one twice and got it right the third time. I was happy to see it was a MANN filter but then I saw the made in china on the box...oh well. I'm letting the rusted mounting bolt soak with PB blaster while I try to figure out how to remove the unusual hose connectors . Is there anything wrong with regular hose clamps ? Anyway , can someone tell me how to loosen the connectors ? I'm an old school guy.

I've got a little $3 tool from Advance that fits the fuel filter lines on my 3.0. Makes it a breeze. Well worth the money.

I have tried several with no luck getting that damn fuel line off the filter. I can get the plastic clips off no problem but the one you need the "special tool" for just will NOT come off. I am very frustrated.

I just used a flathead screwdriver and it went okay. I'm sure a tool is much easier. Took everything off and back on in 10 minuites

Be careful uf you use anything.but the special tool. Beak the line fitting and its expensive to fix.

Is it me? I was a top notch body and fender man for many years...learned the trade from the old timers...used to love working on the old cars. Anyway , what do I do when trying to get the annoying things to release? I don't have a clue . I can't believe they figured out a way to make removing a hose complicated ! What do they call it" Ford super hose extraction device 4.0 "

I use either a large flat blade jewelers screwdriver or just a small flat blade one; tip width is ~ 1/8". No need to and do not apply excess force anything, pull back on each clip and slide out the hose. There are youtube vids out there showing the process; once you discover the trick you'll appreciate the quick, easy R&R process, unlike what was done on vintage/antique cars.

The system is called the" quick connect fuel lines" these quick connects do wear out the more you change filters and there is a procedure to changing the fuel filter that involves, disconnecting the wiring harness to the fuel pressure release switch (passenger kick panel behind carpet), then turn engine over and start vehicle and let it run until there is more fuel in fuel lines engine will stop rolling over, then remove gas cap and put on safety glasses before crawling under vehicle to change fuel filter use quick connect fuel line disconnect and a flat head to remove fuel lines keep head and body out from under fuel filter it will spray pressurized fuel for a moment (safety glasses) slide quick connect fuel lines onto new filter reattach connector slides and makes sure they are all tight. After all is connected replace passenger kick panel wiring harness, and gas cap. Prime the system by putting the key in the ignition and turning it to the on position three times this position is just before turning the engine over. Then start your vehicle and check for leaks if leaks are found make corrections and good luck

----------

"Let the engine run till there is no more fuel in fuel lines" correction.

----------

You can also zip tie the fuel filter to stay in place.

so has anyone had luck getting their damn thing off. 3 hours yesterday, the first 2.5 without the tool and trying screwdrivers, sharpie caps, etc. Went and bought the plastic 5/16" tool and spent 30 minutes yesterday and 15 minutes today with no luck. what the fuck?

well there is a god! finally got it off. went out and bought another tool, this time the metal one but I don't think that was the difference maker. I just think the instructions people post were a bit inaccurate. I had to just pull it pretty damn firmly. I was being a bit dainty because everyone said be careful not to break the fuel line, but fuel lines and the connector are apparently pretty strong. I just gave it a good tug and it popped off. what a nightmare though!

To be honest I had to take a dremel to the first removal tool I bought to get one of the ends to fit between the fuel line and the filter shaved it down to fit and then it worked just fine after twisting to loosen the fuel line.

Bad instructions or bad mechanic? Lol
