Is it ok to use this type of Gasoline?
Hello fellow Ranger owners. I own a 2004 XLT 4x4 v6 4.0L Today I come with a question about gasoline. Earlier today I went to my local chevron gas station to fill up my tank. I always use regular gas. For the price of being so low (especially for a college student) and because and my entire life I have seen my parents use regular gas in all the vehicles we have ever owned. (Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Tacoma, Mazda Tribute.) Sorry off topic. When I approached the nozzels I noticed a sign saying they were out of regular gas due to the fact they were reconstruction something. So they had plus as the same price as regular. At first I was not going to put any gas in but I wasn't going to make it home if I didn't. So I put $10 worth of plus. So here comes my question. Can I put Plus in my truck and not worry about anything happening to her or should I find another gas station that does offer Regular? Does changing the gas affect to lifespan of my engine?

Re: Is it ok to use this type of Gasoline?
I will be needing to fill up my tank later today and thebvhevron will not have regular until tomorrow. Is it ok to fill up my tank to full with Plus? Or should I fill it up with regular at another gas station that I know is a little farther.

You will be fine, just dont use anything under 87 octane.

As far as I know using higher quality gas can only be good for your engine.

Yeah you're ok, I used to mix it up a lot from 87 to 91, now I only run 91 because if I put 87 my truck runs like shit haha you'll be fine

Re: Is it ok to use this type of Gasoline?
i used 91 for a while and it felt like it ran better and got a bit more mileage! but i just cant afford it all the time. it's good once in a while to clean out the engine.

is Canadian 89 & 91 actually cleaner/more lubricative? cause down here, the only difference is the octane rating lol, i wish we could count on getting a better product haha

Yeah, Shell supposedly has 'oyygen-enriched' fuel or something, yet my fuel filter still looked like crap after 30k miles. Plus, our Shell is always a little more, so now, I fuel mostly at Sunoco, and I can't tell the difference.

They add detergents to the gas to clean the engine. It's not snake oil. How well the stuff works may be up for debate.
