Default 02 FX4 Engine Accelerates with clutch in then goes to a rough idle

My 02 FX4 accelerates when I push in the clutch and take my foot off the gas, to shift or to slow down. This lasts for a couple of seconds and then it goes to an idle. My truck is also rough idling. Any suggestions

Maf and iac. Clean them. Should help.also have you changed the plugs and wires if not I'd do that too.

My 02 had symptoms similar to that. I found a leak/crack in the line the goes to the PCV valve. I replaced the hose and PCV valve and the problem went away.

I cleaned the MAF and it is still doing it. How do you clean the IAC as suggested? I've got Throttle Body cleaner. Can I use that?

What did you use to clean MAF hopefully only MAF cleaner. Unplug IAC un bolt IAC clean holes out as best as you can, ive used q tips to help the process, let dry and reinstall if it continues it could also be the Throttle position sensor which you can only replace. Others have used throttle body cleaner but i use MAF cleaner myself.

I cleaned the MAF with MAF cleaner. I just cleaned the IAC with Throttle Body cleaner and it is definately running better. But it is still revving up when I'm driving and push the clutch in when going thru the gears. It revs up to 2200 RPMs with the clutch in and in neutral.
I'll try cleaning the Throttle Body next.

Sounds like tps to me, happened to my 96 explorer at start it would rev high then as I put it into gear it would go down. Sounds close mine was auto though so there was not as much Reving between gears.

Does anyone know how to get to the PCV valve? Or where it is?

Back of the drivers side valve cover. Up against the firewall.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I'm going to check the PCV, clean the Throttle Body, and eventually replace the plugs and wires. I'll let you know how it goes.

Found some time to do the quick Fuel Starter test of the PCV. The engine never revved so I'm going to assume there is no leak. Does anyone disagree? Hopefully this weekend I can get to cleaning the Throttle Body. But as rough as the truck is idling i don't think that is it. Looking to replace the Spark Plugs and Wires when I find time.

Cleaned the Throttle Body but the truck was still idling rough and reving the RPMs. While I had the 4.0 cover off, that's over the Throttle Body, I could hear air. After looking for a while and moving the big hose from the radiator out of the way, I found a 90 degree rubber elbow hose that was cracked and leaking. It comes out of the Throttle Body on the passenger side, runs towards the firewall and I believe wraps around to the PCV valve. Went to the local Autozone and got a replacement and the truck is running like new now. Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone.
