Default only running on 5 cylinders?

Hey all I have a 94 ranger xlt with the 4.0 and 5 spd with roughly 300k on it. I had to park it recently cause it won't fire in the one cylinder the last cylinder on the passengers side towards the firewall. A few months before I parked it it started to run rough and sputter and I changed the plugs and wires turns out one plug had fouled out in that same cylinder. I drove it for a while and it ran good then all of a sudden it did it again. I changed all the plugs out to no dismay it would only run on 5 cylinders. I changed the coil pack and everything and still can't get the last cylinder to fire.

Does anyone know what could be causing this a bad camshaft? Loss of compression? Any help here is gonna be great I love the truck and don't wanna just let it sit. Thanks everyone

You'll need to diag it
It isn't just one for sure problem
check and make sure you getting a spark
then make sure it's getting fuel and air
Then check it's compression and go from there

Default Re: only running on 5 cylinders?

Thanks I'll try that all out soon as it warms up in a couple days here. I love the truck to death even if it takes a new engine I'm not giving up on it!
