Ford changed the way the fog lamps were wired several times in the late 90's and MIGHT even have done a midyear change on the 2000's. There has been feedback saying that some 2000 owners have done the "bent pin" mod successfully. However, the 2000 Ranger Wiring Manual (printed August 99) shows it as you have described and the bent pin mod cannot work for that arrangement.

For the bent pin mod to work, there must be 2 relays associated with the fogs. One is called the Foglamp Relay and the other is the Foglamp Isolation Relay and it is the second one that gets the bent pin. Single relay systems do not have the Foglamp Isolation Relay.

If you have only one foglamp-related relay, bending the pin will kill the fogs completely. With a single relay setup like yours appears to be, a jumper wire would probably be needed to use the parking light trigger instead of the low beam trigger for the fogs. This is the method used for 95~98 Rangers that also use a single relay.
