Carb as an excuse to get up and running is sort of moot when you factor in the time it takes to set up the timing and carb, EFI is just plug-and-play. If you want EFI later, get it now IMO. FWIW I run a carb, and I had a lot of time in tweaking everything in and still playing around try to get the best settings, but I have it close.
I've rode in a couple of V8 ranger and they were awesome. About how long did it take you pete to do the swap on your ranger? I've done S10 V8 swaps but never a ranger, is it about the same or are they completely different?
