If you want disc brakes, get an axle from a '96 +....comes with posi, 4.10 gears, disc brakes....you will need to adapt your ebake cables to it...simple enough...but, you need to reweld the spring perches on top of the axle and reposition the shock mounts.

If you dont need disc brakes get an axle from (dont quote me) an '01 + Ranger. No other modifications necessary

It depends on what year ranger you have...but you might have the smaller axle in there now, a 7.5 or something...The axles I suggested are ford 8.8s...you will probably gain about 3/4-1" of lift if you do use one of those axles...
