Port and polish might increase head flow slightly, but it really wouldn't do much at all with a relatively stock engine.
Careful about choosing camshafts too, dont just get the biggest lift camshaft you can get, with you engine you should be going after a small amount of lift.
If you really want a good amount of performance you can try to keep an eye out for a Ford Thunderbird turbo coupe or a wrecked SVO Mustang, those had turbo 2.3 motors and you could try to get your hand on one of those and swap it in, but dont ruin a perfectly fine SVO, those are pretty rare.
