If removing the "muffler" increases airflow, which would increase power and theoretically improve MPG, why would it be there in the first place? These days, with high gas prices and auto companies in a constant battle to make their vehicles the most fuel efficient, why would they intentionally add something that would restrict the HP and MPG numbers?
