Default After market parts for Cam position/oil drive

I was going to order a Motorcraft cam sync/oil pump drive from Rockauto and noticed several aftermarket brands, A-1, Cardone, Standard, Motocraft, and some cheap ones.

I know you can't go wrong with Motorcraft, but I was wondering if anybody had ordered one of the others brands and found them to be a better made product. I know, since I have ordered the Ford stuff and it just keeps failing and then you discover a off brand that is just better made. Exmple: clutch master on 94 F-350, the factory ones keep going out, I ordered one from Clarks auto and just made better, metal versus plastic.

I was thinking about ordering this one:STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # CSA5.

I don't think Ford would cut corners just to save a few dollars as it could end up costing them millions where small companies will tell you sorry about your luck when your oil pump fails. Myself I wouldn't risk anything with the word oil pump attached to it not a clutch or brake pad either but maybe a light bulb or exhaust pipe. JMHO

I cranked the truck up this morning and it sounded like the ACC Belt was screaming, but it lasted al ong time, enough time for me to open the hood and go to both sides and listen, even backed up and went to work. It never did it again, even when sitting for 5 hours. I will check again in the morning, might be the Cam synchro/oil drive.

OEM all the way for something like the Cam Sync, and from what I've read on this forum, if that is your problem you don't want to wait too long before changing that part.

Everything OK, no more noise. I did notice the idler pulley is black, I will remove belt and see if I can find a bad bearing.

My experience with Standard parts is that they are garbage. Go with the Motorcraft part, especially with such an important and hard to replace part.

Aftermarket parts have really gone downhill unless your going high performance. I still trust Fel-pro and Wix. Through this forum I was introduced to Rockauto, through them you can get Motorcraft parts at aftermarket prices.

When I was 46 I had my ascending Aorta(main artery that comes off your heart and supplies blood to your body) replaced with what is essentially a glorified radiator hose. If it fails I die. I told the Dr. I wanted the best one he had. Buy the Motorcraft.

Motorcraft Camsync from RockAuto.com is $94
Cheap brand Camsync from who knows where is $50?
New engine or rebuild $2000+ all because you wanted to save $40 or so dollars....
