PATS system preventing start
I just bought a 99 ranger 3.0 flex fuel with a bad engine. Also the computer that goes in the engine side of the firewall on the passengers side was missing. I had a wrecked 99 Ranger 4X4 that also had a 3.0 flex fuel engine in it. Both trucks have the PATS system. We took the engine from the wrecked 4X4, along with the computer, ignition lock and key and put it in the 2-wheel drive. Now it won’t run. The starter won’t turn. If I use the original 2-wheel drive ignition lock and key, the starter turns, but it won’t start. The injectors won’t fire.
I have the engine, computer, ignition lock with key, that all ran together a few days ago. Why won’t they communicate now? I even changed the PATS sensor that mounts to the bottom of the steering column just below the ignition key. There has to be another part/component there that it needs to communicate.
Can anyone help me with this?
