Default temp gauge not working

my temp gauge is not working......I ordered a new sensor from rockauto and it was the incorrect sensor...the electrical connections would not fit and the tip looked different then the existing one.......I went to NAPA and bought the one they had.....that did not work wither....It fit properly just did not fix anything.......does anyone know the exact sensor that is needed or could it be my gauge and how do I fix that sensor does not move from coldest.....I put the key at KOEO and test for power at the 2 wires.....all I got was .1 or .01 volts(cant remember) from one of them.............TIA

Sure it isn't the t-stat being stuck open, now allowing temp to rise and show cold all the time? Happen to me. And error codes stored in the computer?
