Default Sputtered / died / wont start (1994 3.0 V6 RWD)

Car:1994 Ranger 3.0 RWD 5spd. 240,000 Miles on ODO.

Known issues: AC has not worked for 100k easily. Fuel gauge will never drop below 1/4 (Go off of mileage).

Problem: I was driving around 50mph, put the truck in neutral and was starting to slow down as there was a red light ahead. Light changed, dropped car into 4th at around 35mph and started accelerating again. Got up to around 50 and then truck began to sputter/possibly misfire?. No check engine lights or anything but car was definitely dying. While slowing down I shifted to lower gear which seemed to allow me to go a little further. Eventually I came to a complete stall out on the side of the road. Car was not overheating. Everything under hood looked normal. Inertia switch was down like it was supposed to be. Fuel pump is heard when key is turned.

Tried to start it again after a few minutes. Truck will attempt to crank, and sometimes almost sounds like it does, but then it dies again. Some things I have done to fix this seem to have worked, but that could be all in my head.

Recent repairs/ maintenance: About 10k ago I replaced the idler pulley/ belt etc. Air filter was done at last oil change so 2k ago.

Attempted repairs so far:
Replaced plugs ( gapped at .044)
Replaced Bosch Wires under warranty exchange
Replaced distributor cap and Rotor ( had been a while anyway)
Replaced fuel filter.
Pressed valve on fuel rail and fuel violently spurted out ( no gauge to test pressure, but it looks god to me).
Battery managed to die during the course of me replacing those other things, got it recharged and no dice for starting so far.
Hose going to EVAP canister had disintigrated, replaced.
Throttle body is opening just fine when pedal is pressed.
Innertia switch is still pressed down.

I am getting spark at the distributor cap. Since I replaced the cap/rotor/wires/plugs I can assume that the spark is making it through all of those. Tapping the bottom of the tank I can tell I did not run out of fuel. Also, I have about 100miles before I would typically fill up anyway.

Any ideas on where to look next? Like I said, It makes an honest attempt to start, but will not.

The timing chain may have slipped, find tdc compression stroke, remove the dist cap, and see where the rotor is pointing.

UPDATE: Timing looked good so I towed to a shop I've trusted for years ( cheap labor, honest, know that I am the DIY type for repairs). Turns out the pressure from the fuel pump was not as good as I thought. They confirmed the fuel pump is bad so I have the truck back at my house and will repair it this coming weekend.

Does anyone have a recomendation for the brand of fuel pump, or where to purchase it? I have seen the airtex ones at shops around here, but I am not sure of their quality.

Any recommendation on store or brand of pump?

I just put an airtex on mine, some say it's fine some say it's bad it's doing fine though. You can just be safe and get a ford one

Ford one is about $450, airtex is around 90, or 75 with coupon at advance. I'm curious as to what is in there now. I had a shop do the first replacement (about 90k ago) and the price was around 450 total for parts and labor, so I know they did not give me the ford pump. Hopefully I can just pull the bed and identify the pump that was in there.
