Default 92 Ranger losing guts and mpg PLZ HELP

I have a 92 Ranger 2wd 3.0. I had a vaccuum leak and engine would get hot at idle. I replaced the vaccuum hoses and the motor quit overheating but lost guts and gas mileage. I went from around 20mpg to about 12, it sounds like its choked, idles rough, battery gauge jumps at idle, and loses power going up hill. Also, it is slow to get moving, but once i get to speed i can go faster at will unless im up a hill. Also seems to take longer to shift into OD and shifts rough at times. Any ideas?
