Default removing a camshaft synchrnizer

I am trying to remove the camshaft synchronizer and having a little trouble getting it out. I removed the hold down bolt and washer but the sync will not budge loose. this is the original sync and it has 216000 miles on it. I tried bumping the engine but that didn't loosen it. any suggestions?

Are you trying to pull straight up? Try rotating it either left or right. I can't remember what direction the gear thread things are. If you already knew that then I can't be of help but wow, 216k on an original cam sync!

thanks, I will try that. I have replaces the sensor but never the sync. I didn't realize until reading some things on here that it should be replaced every 80000 or so. I will say that the fan in the top part is almost completely gone. thanks again
