No throttle response from start to around 2500 rpm
Its a 3.0 5-speed, and when I ease out on clutch to just go(like cruising slow) then gas it, no matter how far i push the peddle it doesn't accelerate any harder until around 2500rpm then it seems to almost come alive. Shorter version, let out clutch, floor it, nothing happens till 2500 rpm, its like riding a 2-stroke. If I drop clutch like to race, I can bypass this, but I am curious if this is begging or a hint to a problem, minor or major. its an 07 btw.

First thought is you have slack in your throttle cable.
Second your clutch is almost shot
Third your throttle position sensor is messed up

It isn't slack, the throttle blade opens wide, I had someone help me by pushin pedal while I looked. It may be clutch, and I'm not exactly a tranny expert, but wouldnt the rpms jump a bit if I floor it and the clutch slipping caused me not to accelerate, what are good ways to gauge the condition of my clutch? I got truck used at 45,000 have <70000 on it now, it really shouldn't be the clutch. And is there a way to check the tps? It seems to work in higher rpms perfectly well, it's just like I have a moody truck, she only squeaks when she's got nothing else to whine about.

Powerband in the 3.0 doesn't begin until around 3k or so.

Re: No throttle response from start to around 2500 rpm
Clutch could be glazed, but it doesn't sound like slippage. Clean your MAF and use some fuel injector cleaner. There's a how-to on here somewhere to check your TPS sensor too, but you should have a code for it at this point if it was that bad. Listen to the Geek, scan for codes!

Ok, ima do everything but check for codes today, cuz I don't have ability to do so. Ima go ahead and do throttle cable mod just cuz I can fit some zip ties, but blade still opens. I'll get back to y'all on how it goes. And as for power band not being till 3k I should still have SOME pull in lower rpms? It doesn't matter if it's wide open or barely open I get the same amount of acceleration.

trust me......send the "Hurst short throw" back when you get it and......buy a code reader now........even if all you can afford is $25. get whatever one you can afford.......then frequently check for codes and post what you get........here!!!!

Re: No throttle response from start to around 2500 rpm
I gotta ask, are you saying that after you release the clutch this vehicle has no response whatsoever until somehow it doggily gets up to 2,500 RPM? Is there a CEL on? And is the CEL working?

Unless you own a code reader today you are very dumb. A lot of issues are solved with pending codes. The stores will not check unless you have a cel.

Re: No throttle response from start to around 2500 rpm
I think he means, like you could floor it, and it's like nothings there; it creeps up and once it reaches that RPM you feel the power kick in. (My car begun to do it in low RPM's.) I believe it's a MAF issue, because my clutch is only 14k old, and i viewed it 4k ago when i put in a new to me trans.

If you ask, they'll check for any codes you have, whether there's a CEL or not. At least around here they do. And when someone says they can't check for codes, even if they haven't invested in a code reader, there's no excuse unless you don't have a single Advance, Autozone, O'Reilly's, Pepboys, or Napa around.
OP, I agree with the Geek. Send that short throw shifter back (useless in these trucks) and use the money to get a code reader. It's like a vacuum gauge from back in the day; working on your own cars, you can't not have one in your toolbox.
----------
I also think this is a MAF issue, or some metering sensor problem. Sounds like it's not adding enough fuel to compensate for more air. If it is a MAF problem that bad, you'll have a code.
