Any common pulleys y'all en up havin to replace, it isn't the belt, got brand new gatorback. Anyone know a good way to key in on the one making the noise. It doesn't do it all day, just when the old girl is feeling whiny

I was on rock auto, and there are quiet a few different tensioners or idler pulleys etc, which should I get, the prices vary a lot, 8-58 I don't wanna buy more than necessary for an infrequent chirp

Re: A pulley is making noise
I'd try hard to diagnose the problem before buying any parts. Do like I suggested and use the rubber hose as a stethoscope and see if you can pinpoint the source. It may also be that the noise is so quiet most of the time that you can't hear it, yet the stethoscope will pinpoint it. The good news is, diagnostics done by you cost no money and just a little time.
*Sometimes if you squirt water on the idler, tensioner idler and/or tensioner using an old windex bottle filled with water, you can make those intermittent noises appear long enough to pinpoint the source.

Just watch the fingers, hair and any lose clothing, a screw up could be life changing. Take your time, watch what you're doing is all.

Re: A pulley is making noise
Make sure it's not coming from the back passenger side of the engine. That's the cam synchro, and it means it's gettin' ready to blow along with your engine if you don't replace it. Just an FYI.

If the sound is coming from the back of the motor on the passenger side (squeaking/chirping), then you'll know. Usually it increases with engine speed. But that doesn't distinguish it from a belt noise.
Just make sure the sound isn't coming from back there. It's a warning from your truck to replace it ASAP.
