Default Bad Idle Problem

I've got a 2006 Ranger Sport with around 120,000 miles. This problem has only happened twice so far. After the truck was driven for about 15 - 20 minutes. I went to start it and the idle would immediately drop to below 500 and the engine would die. The last time it did this I could here something clicking under the hood. Eventually it would start up and be back to back to normal idle. Make be think a sensor or something is getting stuck when occassionally when the truck is warn. The cel hasn't came on yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would start by looking for vacuum leak. Even though it sounds more of a sensor issue. I'm thinking TPS or MAF

I would agree with the vacumn leak except it has only done it twice. That's why I think it may be a sensor sticking problem. I'll look into cleaning the TPS this weekend and maybe run a can of seafoam thru the intake. Just tring to figure this out before I get stuck some where.

It did it to me again yesterday. After that I cleaned the trottle boddy and the IAC. Today I'm going to clean the MAF and replace the fuel filter. I'm still not getting a CEL or codes in the computer, so all is just a guessing game.

I think that's good places to start. Yeah it sucks with electronics. Never can tell if there just dirty or faulty or on their way out
