Ac compressor
Hey guys I wanted to post this here and see if it is normal for ranger drivers to remove their ac compressor? If so why. I notice when I bought the truck it had no compressor but has the ac buttons and all that inside the car. Is it possible that it was remove? I have done a ebay search and have found that the compressores are not expensive at all. I this a easy DIY? OR SHOULD i BUY THE COMPRESSOR and have a ac tech put it on instead? Okay where would I buy the necessary brackets for AC to work. I need this as I have OCD BAD AND DONT LIKE NOT HAVING SOMETHING THAT WAS ORIGINALLY THEIR. sorry about the caps. lol it gets hot here in SACRAMNETO CALI. thks for all ur help.

Sometimes people remove the AC compressor from the Ford Ranger because the Clutch in the compressor seizes and stops turning over when the AC is turned off. When that occurs the serpentine belt grinds on the compressor which can make it snap from the excessive wear. I have removed the AC compressor from a Ranger at my work because of this reason. The owner did not have the money to replace the compressor so we put a shorter belt on the truck. -James

The air conditioning unit should be easy to put in. It's the pipes that will be hard to replace. But, if they are already there you shouldn't have any problems.

well i was being dumb. all is their and i had it checked out. the ac shop had to make it run manually because the compressor was not getting any direct power. so i changed the $12 switch call the recycle something. at lt least this is what i was told to change. the ac is weird.
I can have it on the air just air ( no ac ) and about 15 min into driving i start feeling the ac come on. it gets cold. the shop said all was good and the number sheet shows it can get down to 43 degrees cold. but no direct power. ...........any other switch i should change out? .............how many switches are their? .............why would the ac air come on even when i dont have the button on ac?
