Default 3.0 oil pressure and clutch

First off I have a 95 3.0 with 5 speed, my oil pressure gauge has been acting a little wierd it flicks back and forth from Low to middle a little in the mornings and on occasion driving then most of the time it goes right to were it is supposed to be at when I crank it up, is this a sign of my oil pump or just a short or bad gauge or sending unit?

2nd I know I need to change my clutch , how do I know if the slave cylinder needs changed? and If I do both what would be a price I could expect to do both? thanks guys for your help in advance...

You camshaft syncro could be about to fail...it drives the oil pump! I'd stop driving it till you check it out. If it fails completely, your going to be out an engine!

You'd have to pull and inspect it for wear and slop

All the info is here...

Cam Synchro

It's long and some of it is irrelevant, but there is good info there...read it all.

thanks for the info...I read the whole article...how easy was it? can I do it myself of do I need to take it to the shop? If it is a simple drop in then I know I can handle it but if I have to start messing with the timeing then I will pass on it...

If you have ever put a distributor in a car, it's the same principle. I did mine without any special tools in about 20 minutes. I just made sure to note the position of the housing in relationship to the engine compartment and also the relationship of the rotor to the housing. Had it in the exact spot in only two attempts.

Here are a couple of methods for installing it...

Cam Synchro Method 1

Cam Synchro Method 2

If you want further reassurance, take pictures of yours with the top sensor off and refer to it when dropping it back in.

well i put it in the shop 2day so i will let yall know how it goes...he said 90% of the times the gauge acts up its the sending unit...he was well aware of the chirp of death in the 3.0. So he is going to wet test the oil
pressure and change the clutch and slave....
