Default Ignition Coil?

Trying to help my grand mother out with her van. She has a 2000 Ford Windstar LX with the lovely 3.0. Interesting fact is only 2% had the 3.0, 98% had the 3.8. 160k on the van.

Anyways, the van seems to run a little slow and when at highway speed (45mph and up) the van tends to make small jerks, very lightly. But its still noticeable. I didn't gun the engine to see if it'll get worst or not. I tested it up to around 55mph, never having the rpms go pass 2k.

She has a check engine light on, I believe she had it tested months ago, and I believe it was a misfire code. However the van has had new plugs and wires done around 2years ago. While its a good idea to replace them again, it is a pain in the ass to do the rear spark plugs.

I'm guessing that it could be the Ignition Coil with a small crack it in causing these problems? I'm not really sure.

It seems easily enough to replace it on the 3.0 engine if thats the problem, and I could do that myself. But don't know if this is the problem or not.

Edit: After reading it, my problems are not similar to the link. Our van does not drop a lot of revs (it does a little like a few hundred) but does not act like it'll stall out. This does not happen at idle, only underload, and most of the time its highway speeds.

Oh yea, the fuel filter and fuel pump have been replaced a few months ago because it would stall out & die, then finally died & couldn't be started back up.
