I never said it was my throttle cable...i said it only does it when on the gas pedal which could be the cable...

First try to pinpoint when it happens, and then figure out where its coming from....

----------

Lifters would be a ticking sound i think..not a rattle

Mine has the same thing....its always done it...with my old engine and even with my brand new engine.....
Truck runs and drives fine tho....pushing 68k on the new engine.
Here you just worded it to where it sounded like it was your throttle cable, I also thought you meant your throttle cable was rattling, but before I said anything dumb I read your post again and fully understood what you mean. That us why he was getting confused

yeah sorry i didnt mean to confuse anyone....
like i said...mine does it to when i step on the gas and hold it there...really noticeable on the interstate...but the truck runs fine.....

and from my experience, lifters tick..not rattle...
im not too experienced on the "heat shield" rattling..... i know i hear ticks in the exhaust when its hot... just like in my exhaust pipes on my bike...after i turn it off from a long ride i can hear ticking in the pipes...

and a throttle cable is like $35-40...and takes about an hour to replace, fishing it thru the firewall and working under the dash area with the pedal is the hardest pain in the rear....specially if its a regular cab....lol

Kind of random and off what were talking about. But; how do you change your slogan thing under your name.

They go around 160k, however they will let you know when their about to die. Overheating a few days before it'll die. And it'll sound like a diesel engine on morning start ups for around one month in advanced before it'll die. However I tell people do it around 120k, and 140k at the latest!

The camshaft syncronizer issue is a "chrip"...normally referred to as the "chirp of death"...just replaced mine..did a How-To with a video....link in my signature...also in the Engine Howto section.

How could the cam syncro cause over heating? It has no affect on anything other then timing and shaft driven oil pump. What is the theory behind that?

Yes, you are wrong. The engine is made for 87 octane and if you put anything more expensive in it, you are wasting your money.

Not always true...specially if its an FFV....but i have never seen any instructions to run only 87.....it says unleaded fuel only....
And dont forget about programmer tuners....i have a special custom tune built by don @ lasota racing just for my truck and he recommends 89 or 92...
Engines arent built for a specific fuel (87-89-92) they are pogrammed for it....set up for it...and most can run on a range of unleaded fuel, from 87-92 without issues....its motorcycles and atvs that make a difference.
The only difference is the ffv have different seals and injectors that can tolerate the e85 stuff.

The owners manual says to run 87 octane or e85. And it says to run fuel listed at gas stations a "unleaded" not "regular"
