The 6.0 gets a bad rap but the engine itself is a great engine, its all the emissions crap bolted to it that was killing it. Loose the emissions garbage and you have yourself a hell of a powerhouse.

3.0 is great, I dont have to worry about it blowing up while Im in the middle of the desert, or the tranny blowing like the 4.0s are known for in the desert....

Yes my 02 supercab 4 door edge has a 3.0 and a 5 sp auto. It runs very well. Only performance mods I have made are the gas pedal, snorkel/silencer delete with dropin K&N, opened up the exhaust to 2.5" all the way back with Magnaflow.

At 55,000kms I welded in a drain bung into my auto trans pan, and every oil change I drop about 2.5-3 L out of the trans, regular pan gasket / filter changes ,...I run my truck hard ( when I have to) ., and my tranny has been nothing but good to me ( knock on wood) I have boosted my shift pressures via my superchip ..., the magnet in the pan has given me a lil debris , but nothing out of the ordinary ...., two words ...' Routine Maintenance '

I'm not pumping up ford here , my truck has ha it's issues , and thankful of this site for some of the info I got ....
