Default What 3.0's can I use in my '99

I have a '99 Ranger with 3.0 FLEX and the cost of getting another motor exactly like it is cost prohibitive. I have been hearing that I can use any 3.0 Vulcan block and heads but I just have to swap my old intake and fuel system onto it. Is this true? I may be able to buy a motor off of a '01 3.0 OHV Taurus that was totaled, anybody think that would be a good donor?

Default Not sure but ....

You probably can't use a Taurus motor. The reason being is that the Taurus is a front wheel drive vehicle and I'm not sure that the transmission from a ranger would connect correctly. I know that you could use an older ranger motor with no mods.

Thanks! I was pretty sure everything will fit correctly, now I need to decide what kind of things I can do to the motor to get it to perform a little better without costing an arm and a leg.
