Default Coolant leaking 3.0 front middle

About a month or so ago I noticed my coolant reservoir was dry as a bone but the radiator was still full. Until then I hadn't noticed any leaking so I just added coolant to the reservoir not completely full but added a good bit. Now I have began to notice a small pool on the ground in the mornings. Not too much and nothing to fret over. Originally I thought I was an oil leak because I had had a slight one prior to all of this and because it was dripping in the same spot it made the coolant seem black. However I fixed the oil leak and cleaned the area it was dripping on. Now that the oil has stopped I've noticed coolant on the ground. I know this because my reservoir level is low again. Plus it looks and smells like coolant. I have checked my hoses and tried to follow the leak but no luck. It is dripping just in front of the oil pan. It is very slow but I can't find the source. Any suggestions. Btw this is my first actual post so I hope it's I the right place and I wasn't supposed to post in another thread.

If I had to guess I would say timing chain cover gasket. Mine has been leaking for as long as I can remember. Apparently the fixing of this issue is not cheap which is why mine still leaks. Heck it took a little over 60k miles (in about 6 years) since I bought the truck before it became a problem.

Sound like you may have a bad Water pump. try looking down at the water pump and see if you can see any leaking or of there is a dried faint green trail from the coolant.

The timing chain cover leak is very common on the 3.0. You may be able to search around and find a thread with more information about it. I am just going off memory of threads I stumbled upon.

You are new to the threads, some advice...., grow thick skin cuz the 3.0 haters love to 'bash' us 3.0 owners !

As for the leak , I would check all the heater hoses , and head gaskets for the tell tale signs along with earlier mentioned timing cover and water pump....., don't use the stop leak remidies, find / if the problem !

And welcome to the 3.0L threads

burning gas, tires, and oil, 'cause that's what I do!

Thanks for the heads up bud. And my skins pretty thick. Yea I would prefer a 4.0. But it didn't work that way. Long story why I didn't get one but to make it short, too good of a deal came up on the Ranger I have now for me to give it up. Besides if someone has to bash me about my engine size, they are probably lacking in size some where else haha. Thanks for the advise tho. i will check all these possibilities today if the rain will hold for me.

I've gotten mine quoted to be fixed at $400 but my minimum wage is slow after school lol. What were you told to get it fixed?
