I'm probably getting like 12-13 since I have my 31's, chrome step bars and t-bar lift. When my ranger was completely stock, I was getting like 18-19 mpg.

Was getting 17mpg combined city and highway. Then...Blew the head gasket , had flushed engine and heater core due to brown substance in radiator. Big mistake....realized substance was stop leak. 149000miles...what a disappointment
Decided to replace the anchor with a rebuilt Spartan long block from Advance. We'll see what she gives now. I'm sure it won't be that much improvement. Have been told the 3.0 is like pushing a tank. Engine now has 75mi on it.....$2300.00 later.
Flowmasters create the need to put my foot in it. Damn sure sounds great....but the sound of power doesn't help the cause at the pump.

Make you sure are accounting for any change in tire size when calculating your mpgs. If I didn't do that it would look like i was getting ~15-16mpg hwy and not 21. Also a 265/75R16 is more of a 32 then a 31.

I thought that my milage was bad at 18 city/22 highway but I guess it is about normal
I had thought that this "small" engine would do better than this, guess I am spoiled by my "older" Camaro ,1988 RS with 2.8 and 140000+ on the clock, still pulling 30+ on the highway and 24 around town

I have a 4x4 auto with 4.10LS and 235-75-15 wranglers. I dont drive on the highway, and most of my trips are 3 miles or less, with long periods between each startup.

I cleaned the MAF, IAC and changed the plugs to Autolites. My last 3 tanks averaged 16.75MPG, which I thought was awesome.......My Dodge Ram 1500QC averages 11.4.

I just did my first fillup after driving around town and I got 19.2 MPG as calculated by miles driven divided by gallons used. The truck has 93000 miles on it and its a 2000 4 door 3.0L.

And how do you calculate the MPG with larger tires?
My 3.0 with a new motor is now getting 18.34mpg (combined city & hwy). I have 265/65R16 rather than the OEM 15" tires.

I have a 99' Ranger 2wd with the 3.0 extra cab. I use it as a communter to cali and back a few days a week. It has 287k miles on it now. I still get 21-22 on the hwy. Dont drive it much in the city. Only thing I have done is a k and n filter and oil changes every 4k miles. Everything is original. Had to put a head gasket on it. Thats it. When I pulled the valve covers and heads off they were as clean as can be. I use that "Engine Restor" every other oil change and sea foam here and there.

If your odometer/speedometer has not be recalibrated for the larger tire size you have to find what percentage larger the new tire is from the original. (just divide the new tire size by the old) My 31s were 19% bigger then my oems so I multiplied my tripometer reading by 1.19 to find how many miles I had actually gone.

Never did well in math....OEM is 15" New is 16". Divide 16 by 15 = 1.0666...... 1.06% ?
Trip is 300 miles X 1.06 = 318 divided by 18 gallons = 17.66 mpg

Does that look right?

Thanks for the math lesson
