Default Re: 3.0 Liter V6 MPG?

My estimates are rough, but I think I get about 17 city or a little more. I try to drive like an old lady and I put it in neutral at long lights or coasting to a stop. Reduces tranny temp, may or may not help mpg. My trucks auto btw.

3.73's
31" tires
Alloy wheels
K&N filter
MAF mod
Airbox mod, with holes cut out
Synthetic oil and dif fluid
throttle cable mod
Rebuilt heads with 5 angle valve job and radiused exhaust ports

I just got headers and I hope that will give me a little mileage once I get them installed and remove a few cats and a new muffler.

For more mileage reduce as much weight. Some useful mods will be an e-fan and underdrive pulleys, maybe exhaust. Nothing is gonna change it a ton. A tuner is the best route, a good economy tune could get you like 2-3 more mpg, potentially

According to my ultra-gauge, I get average of 18-23. and thats towing a small trailer a one or 2 days a week. I keep forgetting to take my mileage to do my mpg myself. I also try to drive like a granny whenever i can
I got:
3:73's
like 30" tires
Manual trans
K&N filter
AirBox Mod
My exhaust doesnt really count for much.

Thats about it.

i fill up every 2 and a half weeks and i drive everyday and take a long cruise once a week. Smaller tires help and the 3.73 gears help and having a 5-speed helps. i have all three. And the best part is that i run my a/c everyday also

Cool Re: 3.0 Liter V6 MPG?

When I first got my Ranger, I was getting around 15 MPG. It had 31" inch American prospector off road tires on it, and the front end needed work. New ball joint's, tie rods, etc. I replaced the 31" tires with BFG Long trail's and fixed the front end and got an alignment, that helped a little with the mpg's but made a huge difference with road noise and drivability. I have since cleaned the MAF sensor and I did the the throttle cable mod, and my last tank I got 17MPG, I don't think it's going to get any better than that.

With my truck (see sig) I get 21 mpg city and 24+ mpg highway. And yes that's with the 22's on it weighting in at 90 lbs for rim and tire. With the stock wheels I get about 2 mpg more in each category. Calculated by miles driven divided by gallons pumped in. Still breaking in to I think. Only 19,000 miles on the truck.

Just filled the tank yesterday and it's up 1/3 mpg to 13.6 driving the same up and down hills short city/highway trips. I noticed a much smoother and steady idle after cleaning MAF and IAC both of which were dirty.

"quote mobaby I have fabricated an aftermarket intake using Spectre parts from 'the Zone."

I did the same thing and get as high as 25 mpg on 3.0 flex but my average is now about 23 highway 18 in town when I keep my foot out of it at least

Just realized tonight that my truck has a K&N air filter. Well hotdog, I ran right up to my favorite A-Zone and got a Recharge Kit. De-greased the filter box after shop vaccing out the leaves and such. Before work tomorrow I plan on oiling the filter that's hanging in the basement close to the dehumidifier. 13.6mpg hopefully will increase. Tadah!!!
