I consistently get 23-25 mpg highway and city combined. Just keep your truck tuned up and cleaned and you will be amazed at what kind of gas mileage you can get. Also depends on how you drive. I have a 2001 edge 5 speed.

^ 5spd helps but Across the board you can basically count on any where from 15-22 MPG depending on how you drive and mods. I had a 3.0 4.10 stock and it got 17-20 (50City/50Hwy) Put 285's on it and got 14-16 (50/50). I knew tires would do this so I never complained but it did kinda suck.

13.3 mpg for me. Wheels and tires are stock size 225/70 15. My wife's La Sabre gets about 11-12. The Buick hardly gets over 35 mph so tells you what kind of driving we do.

It really does depend on how you drive it, and WHERE you drive it. City and highway traffic differ much from city to city, and highway to highway. Ask around all you want, just take the average of what everyone says and keep that as a baseline with a standard deviation in mind. I have a '03 supercab 2D with a 3.0 stock. I drive highways and byways up large hills and down them. I get 17 mpgs.

I have a '95 3.0l with auto trans, 3.45 gears. New head gaskets, full tune up, etc.. I get 21-22 at best. 19 has been my lowest recorded. However, I haven't done any real highway driving and checking the milage afterwards. If more hwy driving I would expect it to be a couple mpg higher.

For the poster towards the end of the 1st page who said they did 99% hwy driving and have 4.10 gears. I would DEFINITELY switch to something like 3.45s.. I think thats where people will notice the biggest difference. If you want better milage, and do mostly hwy driving, I'd switch out anything over 3.73s for something lower. You'll lose alot of quickness off the line, but your mpg will improve a ton on the hwy. It's also much easier on the motor (will run at lower RPMs).

I'm temped to switch my 3.45s for 3.27s or 2.73s..but the truck is already so slow.. I can't really make it any slower off the line and still be safe to drive in town lol

I may look into an underdrive crank pulley.. I wish I had explored that back when I had the motor out of the truck and did the timing cover/water pump seals.. That would have been the perfect chance to swap that.. If it makes a 2mpg difference and is around $50, Id say it would definitely be worth doing.

Most people think I'm doing good with a truck getting 20+mpg, but I'm used to always having cars that got close to 30mpg..So the switch hurts a little. I try not to make unnecessary trips. I can't understand why or how anyone could be driving these real big trucks and SUVs getting like 15mpg or less. To me that's just crazy.

My Ranger is a 5 speed automatic 4x2 with 3.73 LS differential and 95k miles on it. Typically I drive approx 3-5 miles up and down hills each trip. Nothing I have owned has ever gotten even 15mpg. Just curious if that is what you see also?

A few weeks ago I took a trip from here to Birmingham A.L. Most of the trip was on I-20 and I was going pretty hard the whole way. I got pretty close to 90mph a few times but I stayed around 75- 80 the whole way. For the round trip I averaged 19.4mpg.

Holy crap, I must be doing something wrong. Everyone is getting fabulous gas mileage and all I do is feed the gas stations. Well, at least I'm in a truck worth doing it in.

I'm up to a whopping 13.6 or 13.7 mpg, changed my fuel filter and that bumped it up from 13.2
