Mines 4.0 so it won't help, can't see the maf being that different though. I cut the plastic lid off my maf and used the spectre tubing and filter, works great and no check engine lights.

Maf #Dl160 on autozone site. intake part number 57-2554 on k&n site. both are for 02 3.0 but they just dont match up.

I think I found your problem what is the part number on the kit you got if it is 57-2554 it is the wrong one from K&N website 57-2554 is for 2002 3.0 the correct one for your truck is 57-2529-1

Thats what i have 2002 3.0 ranger edge. Even the pictures of the engine in the instructions look the same.

Hmm when i seach 02 ranger 3.0 it brings up that part for mass air flow sensor.
